Mexico Update!

Dear Family and Friends!

Greetings from sunny Mexico! I just wanted to send a short update on our past two and a half weeks. We had a good road trip out here and the kids did amazing. We had one flat tire but we were able to get it fixed quickly and arrived in Tijuana right on schedule.

Since arriving, Garrett has been really busy working on construction documents and plans for a building that will house volunteer teams that come to the YWAM campus. These teams come four days at a time and construct homes for families in need in the area. The building is just in its beginning stages, so its given Garrett great opportunity to use his skills in architecture.

On Wednesday, I was able to teach “how to prepare and present a teaching” in the School of Biblical Studies. This week, the SBS students are teaching Old Testament overview to small groups on the YWAM campus and church groups & homeless ministries in Tijuana. I felt honored to teach these students as they take truth of His Word to both believers and non-believers.

I have also been busy with the kids! It has been nice to get out into the sunshine and play outdoors for a change (such a contrast to winter in Montana!). The first day we were here, Isaiah said, “I want to stay here forever!” (in response to a comment on the weather). There is a preschool on campus so Isaiah and Noelle have made a few friends and really like the teacher. Lilly is a summer girl and all she wants to do is play outside... so therefore, all I feel like I’m doing is chasing her!

Loving the sunshine! (Yes, that is the ocean in the background!)

We went to the San Diego Zoo last Saturday and had a great time! The kids loved it and I couldn’t believe that they lasted 8 hours in the park before calling it quits. It was just a great day being together and enjoying our little family. I’ve included a few pictures for your enjoyment! :)

Can you see the panther?

The giraffe was Noelle's favorite!

We do have a few prayer requests:

  • Please pray for continued wisdom and energy for Garrett as he works on the project.
  • We will be heading to YWAM Ensenada at some point in the next couple weeks. Please pray for a safe drive as well as a productive time meeting to discuss the construction that will begin soon on that campus as well.
  • Tires! As I mentioned earlier, we had a flat when we were in Las Vegas. It was fixed but we have noticed one of our other tires has a slow leak as well. We will be back in San Diego this weekend and need to figure out what to do with the tires as they aren’t safe to drive back home to MT. Please pray that we will find good tires at a great price and that this will be resolved!

Thank you so much for your prayers and support. We know that we do not do this work alone and we feel privileged to be working alongside you.

Blessings!

Introducing: Lilly Mae

Our precious girl was born on November 27th at 9:46pm. Lilly was 8.1lbs and 21inches long.

Lilly was wanting to make an appearance at 35 weeks, but thankfully the doctors were able to prevent early labor and delivery. At 37.5 weeks, the doctors wanted to induce labor because Lilly was growing and I (Sarah) was having difficulty with my blood sugar staying level. We went in to the hospital on November 19th, fully prepared to have a baby, but after having an amniocentesis (a test to determine the lung development of the baby) done and the results coming back as borderline, the doctor decided to wait a week and let her lungs develop further. We went in to be induced on November 27th. Lilly was breach, so the first step was to see if it was possible to manually turn her. Yes, its about as pleasant as it sounds. My doctor did a great job though, and Lilly turned within about five minutes of trying to turn her. This meant that I wouldn't have to have a C-section! Woohoo! They started inducing me at 1pm and Lilly was delivered at 9:46pm.

We are so thankful for another beautiful, healthy little girl! She only briefly struggled with her blood sugar, but within 24 hours things had leveled out for her. We were very happy that Lilly didn't have to spend any time in the NICU! We have been so blessed with a wonderful group of doctors as well as an excellent hospital.

Noelle was SUPER excited to meet her new sister!
Kisses for Lilly..

We brought Lilly home on the 29th, and she was welcomed wholeheartedly by her older brother and sister. Both Isaiah and Noelle love having a little sister to love on! Isaiah asked me the other day if Lilly was our Christmas present. I told him that she definitely is! He was also extremely excited when I told him that we get to keep her!

Sweet girl!

Hahaha! We all fit in our car! Yay!
